Japanese Society of General Hospital Psychiatry (JSGHP)

Since its first annual meeting was held in Tokyo in 1988, the Japanese Society of General Hospital Psychiatry (JSGHP) has developed a long history as a professional academic society within the field of psychiatry.

The Society consists of physicians and other healthcare professionals with an interest in psychiatry within general hospitals, and currently has approximately 2,000 registered members.

Since 1988, through its annual scientific meetings, JSGHP has promoted research and education on mental health issues in medical settings, including psychological care in advanced medical treatment and end-of-life care.

Organization of JSGHP with 27 Committees

The Japanese Society of General Hospital Psychiatry is composed of 27 committees. Healthcare professionals interested in general hospital psychiatry gather through these committees to discuss a wide range of issues openly and candidly, while working to improve psychiatric care within general hospitals.
